Safety in the Home

The Safety in the Home service is provided by Yorkshire Children’s Centre who are a proud partner of the Thriving Kirklees Partnership

About the Service

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to carry out our usual Home Safety visits. However, it is more important than ever that home safety information is available to everyone who is social distancing and self-isolating. So click here for guidance and information.  


If you live in Kirklees and have a child under 2 years old you could be entitled to FREE home safety equipment supplied and fitted in your property. You will also receive home safety information and advice.

The safety equipment supplied includes:

• 2 Safety Gates
• 1 Fire Guard
• 1 Bath Mat
• Cupboard Locks
• Corner Cushions
• Blind Cord Winders
• Window Restrictors
• Reduce the risk book

Yorkshire Children’s Centre are also working in partnership with West Yorkshire Fire And Rescue Service to ensure each family referred in to the service also receive a Free Fire Safety Check, which can result in new smoke alarms being fitted if necessary.
